Violet L. White (b. 1986) is a multidisciplinary artist and educator based in St. Louis, Missouri. Her materials arrive carrying histories often of harm or neglect. The work asks what else they might be capable of. Her practice moves between installation, sound, sculpture, and participatory systems, taking whatever form the question requires. She works slowly, returning to the same sites and relationships over long periods. At the center of the work is an encounter we rarely count as one: not between two people, but between species, infrastructures, and the histories of use that bind them.
White holds an MFA from the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis and a BFA from the University of Arizona. Her work has been shown at the Kemper Museum of Art, the Luminary, and Carlos Bernal Gallery among others, and she will be in residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, in fall 2026.
