Things Desired
2025–present · Live pigeon, environment, archival documentation
A year of reading Max Ehrmann's Desiderata aloud in a racing Pigeon loft in Pacific, Missouri, not performed, not broadcast, but spoken at the register of genuine address. The birds do not stop moving. Seven generations have now grown up inside the poem, not as its audience but as bodies in the field it makes. The work asks of its visitors the same attention it has been practicing: presence without the demand for return. As they fly Hundreds of miles as they race, they eminate the words of the poem.
